The training focuses on hazard identification, avoidance, control, and prevention, aligned with OSHA standards. The program requires a minimum of 30 hours of instructional learning.
1. Introduction to OSHA – 2 Hours
Covers workers’ rights, employer responsibilities, and procedures for filing a complaint. It includes essential safety and health resources, a sample fatality and catastrophe report, a material safety data sheet, and OSHA Form 300 for work-related injuries and illnesses.
Training materials include instructor guides, PowerPoint slides, handouts, and interactive activities.
2. Managing Safety and Health – 2 Hours
Covers workplace safety programs, inspections, accident prevention, management commitment, employee involvement, hazard control, investigation methods, and effective communication techniques.
3. OSHA Focus Four Hazards – 6 Hours
As most construction fatalities are caused by these hazards, a minimum of one hour and 15 minutes must be dedicated to falls, and at least 30 minutes to each remaining hazard:
Falls (minimum 1 hour 15 minutes)
Electrocution
Struck-by (e.g., falling objects, vehicles, cranes)
Caught-in or Between (e.g., trench or equipment hazards)
