OSHA 30-Hour General Industry – Elective Topics

The OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Course is designed for workers who hold safety responsibilities within their organizations. The training focuses on hazard identification, prevention, control, and compliance with OSHA standards, providing participants with practical knowledge to maintain a safe work environment. The course requires a minimum of 30 hours of instruction.

Course Structure

Mandatory Training – 13 Hours:

  • Introduction to OSHA – 2 Hours

  • Managing Safety and Health – 2 Hours
    (Topics may include Injury and Illness Prevention Programs, job site inspections, accident prevention programs, management commitment and employee involvement, worksite analysis, hazard prevention and control, accident investigations, conducting safety meetings, and supervisory communication.)

  • Walking and Working Surfaces, including Fall Protection – 1 Hour

  • Exit Routes, Emergency Action Plans, Fire Prevention Plans, and Fire Protection – 1 Hour

  • Electrical Safety – 2 Hours

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – 1 Hour

  • Materials Handling – 2 Hours

  • Hazard Communication – 1 Hour

Elective Training – 10 Hours:

  • Participants must complete at least 10 hours of elective training from approved topics.

  • At least 5 topics must be covered, with a minimum of 30 minutes per topic.

This course equips employees and supervisors with the skills and knowledge to recognize, control, and prevent workplace hazards, ensuring both personal safety and organizational compliance with OSHA regulations.
